The principle focus of Melanie's practice is the treatment of anxiety, panic attacks, sleep difficulties and hoarding issues. She works with people who have long standing issues and those with more recent difficulties. Melanie works in a gentle way to relieve your distress and help get life back on track. A variety of well researched therapeutic approaches are used to best fit your particular circumstances and needs. She is also a qualified hypnotherapist. When combined with counselling, hypnotherapy can be a highly effective way of treating issues such as anxiety and panic attacks. It is also very useful for improving a wide variety of issues such as low self-esteem, fear of public speaking, phobias and some sleep problems. Melanie uses an individually tailored approach that combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and hypnosis to maximise the outcome of success.

Background

After an early career in training & development and change management, Melanie returned to university and completed a psychology degree. Subsequently, several post graduate courses of study have been undertaken. Along side these there is a continual program of professional development, designed to keep knowledge and professional practice current. She has worked as a private practice psychologist for over 20 years, both as a solo practitioner and as part of a group practice. Over this time Melanie has had the privilege of working with many adults and older folk to relieve distress and improve quality of life.
